Diaz, a cash-game player from Memphis, Tennessee won the $1,500 Triple Chance event, a format that imitates rebuy tournaments by allowing players to take their starting chips in three separate stacks or all at once during the early stages of the event. Diaz got his start in low buy-in tournaments hosted at bars around Memphis, finding enough success to make the jump to cash games at the casinos in nearby Tunica, Mississipi.
