The tour has had more than 60,000 unique entrants in its history, and according to co-founder Todd Anderson 80 percent of that number is represented by recreational poker enthusiasts. As one of the few new high-profile tours in years, the EPL has received its share of buzz since being announced in early 2011. Headed by former WSOP commissioner Jeffrey Pollack and noted poker pro Annie Duke the EPL has a structure that is somewhat reminiscent of the PGA golf tour with only select players invited to the $20,000 buy-in main event tournaments. It is possible for amateur players to qualify for the main event through the EPL Pro/Am tournaments. The league kicks off at 12:00 p.m.
