Boxell earned $330,000 AUD for his victory at the APPT Melbourne main event. He defeated a field of 260 to earn his first major title.
APPT Season 5 Kicks Off Down Under
The $5,000 AUD Main Event drew 260 players, generating a prize pool in excess of $1.2 million and a first-place prize of $330,000. Headlining the first stop on the APPT Season 5 schedule were former WSOP Main Event champions Joe Hachem and Chris Moneymaker. PokerStars Gears Up For ANZPT 3
The second season wrapped up last week following Jonathan “xMONSTERxDONGx” Karamalikis’ victory at the Grand Final in Sydney, Australia, when he got the best of a star-studded final table that included Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu (9th), WSOP, WPT and EPT Triple Crown winner Roland de Wolfe (8th), and 2008 APPT Macau Champ Eddy Sabat (6th). Now organizers have confirmed the third season of the PokerStars.net ANZPT will kick off in Adelaide, Australia Feb. 2-6.

The Shangri-La Mactan Resort in the Filipino Island paradise saw 75 players enter the 100,000 PHP ($2,165 USD) event. A total of 37 survived the six levels of play on the day with Aussie PokerStars Qualifier Andrew Hinrichsen grabbbing the overnight lead. Fellow PokerStars qualifiers Kevin Park from Canada and Jukka Juvonen from Finland round out the top three.
