Last we checked, Canada Day was earlier in the year. Our Canadian friends took the day off and did a bunch of Canadian things. We remember it clearly, largely because we were a little jealous. So, with the above completely understood, you can probably understand why were like, “Wha?” when Team PokerStars Canada blew up yesterday during the Sunday tournaments. One $215 Mixed Hold’em final table alone consisted of Team Pros Pat Pezzin, Greg Debora, and An Van Nguyen.

WSOP Hits New Milestones with Close of Main Event Registration

The World Series of Poker has officially set records for total entrants and prize pool after registration ended for the main event. The WSOP actually surpassed its own record for attendance before the main event even started, but the final numbers are now in. A total of 72,966 entries were made in the 57 events of this year’s WSOP at the Rio in Vegas, easily beating the previous record of 60,875 set last year. It was also the largest cumulative prize pool in WSOP history, with a total of $187,109,850 that was, and will be, awarded this year
