The State of Live $1-$2 No Limit Hold’em
Jul 22nd
While at this year’s World Series of Poker , I took the opportunity to play in quite a few different $1-$2 No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) games at casinos all over Las Vegas. I also watched some friends of mine who were out for a quasi-annual pilgrimage to poker Mecca. In short, I feel like I got a good snapshot of the $1-$2 NLHE action in Las Vegas. Of course, this game is crucially important – it is the “default” poker game played in casinos all over the U.S
RandALLin Dominates Super Tuesday
Jul 21st
It was a particularly busy Tuesday on PokerStars as 384 players paid the $1,030 buy-in, easily smashing the $300k guarantee. There were numerous pros in the field with Jon “PearlJammer” Turner, David “dpeters17″ Peters, Chad Brown, Vanessa Rousso and JP Kelly all taking a crack at the nearly $400k prizepool. All the aforementioned players hit the rail well before the money leaving Pat Pezzin and Tae Joon Noh as the only Team PokerStars Pros to make the money. Noh would eventually fall in 30th place for $2,496 while Pezzin hit the rail 16th for $3,840. Flowers actually entered the final table as one of the short stacks but that didn’t stop the young pro from doubling up almost immediately and then busting another player shortly thereafter. Eventually Flowers entered heads-up play with a slight chip disadvantage to opponent guinor but once again luck was on his side.
Rewind: Best Poker Videos of the Week (July 11th-18th)
Jul 18th
Hellmuth’s really late entrance, the last woman standing, and pros show off their poker faces. Watch some of the internet’s most interesting poker-related videos from the past week in this week’s edition of PTP ’s Rewind. Hellmuth enters tournament, really late Phil Hellmuth was one of the big names who registered really late for the World Poker Tour event at the Bellagio. Hellmuth registered two days late — the WPT lengthened late registration to accommodate the fact that the WSOP main event was still going on. Anyway, Phil still felt the need to make a big entrance, although not as elaborate as his ME entrance.

Many of the players were looking shattered, particularly John Spinks but he’d be unlikely to admit it, and it was probably a wise decision. Andrew Youens is our overnight chipleader with 621,500. Confirmation is on its way

WSOP Main Event Day 2A: Everybody’s workin’ on the weekend
Jul 9th
We’ve been told it’s Friday morning. It came as a surprise. If we’d not been told, it would’ve been evident by the bigger crowds, bikinis lined up for Ditch Fridays, and the fact we saw our former chip counting monkey shooting craps with Nelly this morning. It certainly looks like a weekend, but it’s not going to feel like one for 5,146 players of the 2010 WSOP. It’s that number, 70% of the Main Event starting field, that we will see return for the bifurcated Day 2 festivities
